Book Blurb

Ben Rivers always was a showman. He won awards in 4-H and rodeo competitions from the time he could walk, and he’s happiest in the spotlight. So when he got the chance to be a star—in porn—he took it. He still loves Montana and everything about being a cowboy, but when news of his alternate identity leaks out, he figures he’s lost the town’s goodwill forever. Clyde’s Corner would never accept an openly gay cowboy, even a hometown boy born and bred.

Joshua Braintree always had the notion that he and his best friend’s kid brother, Ben, would end up together. Ben’s always been a diehard cowboy, just like him: they need the land and its freedom as much as they need air. So when Joshua learns Ben moved away from their small Montana town to be a porn star in Vegas, he can hardly believe it. He’s determined to finally declare himself and bring Ben home.

Despite his longtime crush on Joshua, Ben won’t be as easy to tame as Joshua’s “lost cause” horses. It will take a lot of heart and holiday spirit for Joshua to convince Ben that even old prairie dogs can learn new tricks in the name of love.

Book Review

I love cowboys, I love horses, I love Montana, I love gay men, and, well, I love porn. Stands to reason then that I would really like this story. *grins*

Joshua is kicking himself in the behind for spending so much time getting his horse business up and running after he took over his daddy's ranch that he let Ben get away. Not only is Ben his best friend's little brother, but his best friend is fighting in Afghanistan and, obviously, Joshua hasn't fulfilled his promise to take care of his dad and brother. Especially Ben, seeing as someone in their little tiny town leaked the fact that Ben is in Vegas doing Internet gay porn. The fact that watching that porn isn't helping anything is beside the point. *of course it is*

"Those moments, those intimate moments, those firsts, were supposed to be Joshua's, and they'd been stolen as surely as if cattle thieves had raided his pastures." Joshua heads to Vegas to bring Ben home where he belongs, where his dad still loves him and wants him back. Poor Ben. He's so darn confused when Joshua shows up. When Joshua tells him he watched all of his films, Ben about dies of embarrassment. Joshua figures the only way he can convince Ben that coming home with him is the right thing to do, is to show Ben how Joshua feels. Well, Ben isn't experienced with feelings like this. He had sex with some girls in Montana and in Vegas all the guys claim to be gay-for-pay, so Ben can hardly believe the man who starred in all of his fantasies growing up is making love to him. And, trust me when I say, it's a gorgeous scene!

Ben is right about one thing, though. He won't come back to Clyde's Corner and hide who he is. Ben doesn't want that kind of life and he knows Joshua will never come out, so it's best for Ben to stay in Vegas and for Joshua to head home. Oh, the age-old heartache of love separated and trying to be happy without the other piece of its soul. Do they get their happy ever after? Is there a Christmas miracle in store for both Ben and Joshua? Oh, and the scene where Joshua announces his intentions at the town Christmas meeting? Priceless.

Loved this story! It was everything I had hoped it would be and more. Great job, Eli, and thank you!
