Book Review

It’s wintertime and all is well in the Brighton-Gale household. Jack and Lawson’s son, Brennan, is growing like a proverbial weed and they are one big happy family. After several successful ventures, Lawson is known worldwide; he is much sought after for his expertise and knowledge. He has traveled a lot and has loved it, but, for the time being, he is content to be with his husband and child. Yet, when a colleague calls in need of his help to identify a butterfly that is atypical from any other known species, the call to participate in its identification is too compelling for him to pass up. With Brennan in Jack’s mother’s and sister’s care and Jack by his side, they are off on another adventure.

They go to Tasmania where they meet up with Connor and his team who are to lead them up to where the butterflies are living deep inside a cave. The weather is horrible and the journey is treacherous, but they are well equipped, as well as highly experienced. Bit by bit, they climb up the rocky steep terrain towards their goal with Jack and Lawson being cautiously optimistic. If there are butterflies in the dead of winter in the imago stage, it will be a truly unique find indeed.

It was delightful to visit with Jack, Lawson, and Brennan once again. The adventure was exciting and fulfilling, although it made me feel very cold. Jack and Lawson are a testament to how real love works. Thanks, N.R., for the endearing, exciting tale of one of my favorite couples.
